Growing up in a Chinese family, I've often struggled with the distance between how love is expressed in words and how it is felt through actions.
Using my mother's letters and WeChat messages from 2015 to 2023, I reconstruct her affectionate words through exaggerated performances in everyday settings. With blurred images and clear subtitles, the work questions the sincerity of language and the complicated ways we express, perceive, and understand love.
